NEW YORK CITY GEOGRAPHIC DISTRICT #31

New York City Geographic District #31 serves as a foundational pillar of public education in Staten Island, operating as an active, traditional public school system within a large city environment. Based out of its administrative offices at 715 Ocean Terrace in Staten Island, New York, the district manages 74 operational schools that offer a complete educational continuum from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as ungraded primary and secondary offerings. Operating within the bustling New York-Newark-Jersey City metropolitan area, District #31 provides non-charter public schooling designed to deliver seamless academic progression and comprehensive programming for families across the borough.

The district supports a vibrant and diverse enrollment of over 60,000 students, spanning more than 3,200 pre-kindergartners, nearly 50,000 elementary and secondary students, and specialized non-graded learners. To effectively guide and nurture this sizeable student body, District #31 maintains a robust workforce comprising nearly 16,500 full-time equivalent staff members.
