School Overview
Brooklyn Technical High School, commonly known as "Brooklyn Tech," is one of the most prestigious and historic public high schools in the United States. Located in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, it is one of the city's elite Specialized High Schools, meaning admission is based solely on a student's performance on the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT). As one of the largest high schools in the country, it serves a diverse and highly competitive student body, offering a rigorous academic environment that focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The school is renowned for its expansive, college-like campus and its state-of-the-art facilities, which include advanced research labs, engineering shops, and media centers. Brooklyn Tech operates on a unique "major" system, where students choose a specialized track—such as software engineering, aerospace engineering, architecture, or biological sciences—after their freshman year. This structure allows students to gain hands-on technical experience alongside a comprehensive liberal arts curriculum. With a long-standing reputation for academic excellence, the school consistently produces a high volume of National Merit Scholarship finalists and sends its graduates to many of the world’s top-tier universities.
