Chatham School District

Headquartered at 500 Big Dog Salmon Way in Angoon, Alaska, the Chatham School District serves as an essential educational cornerstone within a rural remote setting. As an open, fully operational regular public school district, Chatham operates four schools that deliver a complete educational continuum spanning from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The district is committed to providing accessible, comprehensive learning opportunities across early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school levels, ensuring students in isolated coastal communities receive a well-rounded academic foundation.

Based on context from the 2024–2025 school year, the district serves a close-knit population of 161 students, maintaining a balanced gender distribution of 79 female and 82 male learners. Reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the area, the student body prominently includes 80 American Indian and Alaska Native students and 74 White students, along with multiracial, Asian, and Black students. To ensure individualized attention and robust operational care across its campuses, Chatham maintains an expansive workforce of approximately 96.6 full-time equivalent staff members.
