Southwest Region School District

Headquartered at 574 Kenny Wren Road in Dillingham, Alaska, the Southwest Region School District serves as a vital educational cornerstone across one of the state's most remote rural landscapes. As an open, traditional public school district, it delivers comprehensive instruction spanning from prekindergarten through 12th grade across its eight operational schools. Serving isolated wilderness communities, the district provides inclusive academic programming tailored to the unique cultural and logistical context of rural Alaska, ensuring students across all grade levels have access to early childhood education, core academic instruction, and pathways to high school graduation.

Currently enrolling 615 students, the district boasts a vibrant and culturally rich community, with a student body composed primarily of American Indian and Alaska Native youth alongside multiracial students. To support these learners across vast distances, the district maintains a remarkably strong staffing presence, employing approximately 95 full-time equivalent teachers, 35 instructional aides, and over 140 support personnel, bringing the total staff to more than 270 dedicated professionals.
