INSTITUTE FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS

Located at 1101 Riverfront Drive in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the Institute for the Creative Arts is a newly established independent charter district offering a specialized secondary education experience for high school students in grades 9 through 12. Situated in a small city environment within the greater Fort Smith metropolitan area, the district operates a single campus while functioning as its own local education agency for federal programs. Designed to serve as a specialized destination for arts-focused learning, the institute provides local families and prospective students with a distinct educational model embedded right in the riverfront community of Sebastian County.

In its recent profile, the district caters to an intimate student body of 49 high schoolers across grades 9 through 11, comprised of 23 ninth graders, 14 tenth graders, and 12 eleventh graders. The student population includes 36 female and 13 male students, representing diverse backgrounds including White, American Indian, Hispanic, Black, and multiracial learners. To cultivate artistic talent and academic growth, the district maintains an expansive staffing model, featuring approximately 26 full-time equivalent teachers and nearly 38 support staff members, bringing the total district staff to nearly 64 full-time equivalents.
