OUACHITA RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT

Located at 143 Polk Road 96 in Mena, Arkansas, the Ouachita River School District serves as a vital educational hub for its surrounding rural community. Operating as an active, traditional public school district, it encompasses three campuses dedicated to delivering a comprehensive academic program for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Set within a distant rural geography in western Arkansas, the district provides families with a stable, continuous K–12 learning path that prepares local youth for post-secondary education and workforce opportunities.

The district fosters a close-knit educational environment, enrolling 735 students across its primary and secondary grade levels, with a nearly equal gender balance of 374 female and 361 male learners. The student body encompasses a variety of cultural backgrounds, including White, Hispanic, multiracial, Native American, Asian, and Pacific Islander students. To support student achievement and operational excellence, the district maintains a robust workforce of approximately 330 full-time equivalent staff members. This includes more than 200 dedicated teachers, nearly 10 instructional aides, and over 110 support personnel, ensuring that students benefit from low student-to-staff ratios, tailored instructional assistance, and a well-supported school environment.
