Six Rivers Charter High District

Six Rivers Charter High District is a newly operating independent charter district functioning as its own local educational agency for federal programs in Northern California. Located at 1720 M St. in Arcata, California, the district operates a single high school facility dedicated exclusively to secondary education for students in grades 9 through 12. Set within a remote town environment in the Eureka-Arcata metropolitan region, the district offers a close-knit learning community that combines the autonomy of an independent charter with a clear focus on high school academic development.

For the 2024–2025 academic year, the district serves a compact student body of 113 high school scholars, balanced evenly across grade levels with 26 freshmen, 28 sophomores, 30 juniors, and 29 seniors. The student population includes 59 female and 54 male students from a variety of backgrounds, including White, Hispanic, multiracial, American Indian, and Black learners. To deliver personalized instruction and robust student support, the district maintains a full-time equivalent (FTE) workforce of just over 19 staff members, including approximately 10 FTE teachers and 9 FTE support personnel. This favorable staffing model yields an intimate student-to-teacher ratio of roughly 11 to 1, providing researchers, parents, and students with a compelling model of small-scale, high-touch public secondary education.
