We the People High District

Located at 1635 Long Beach Blvd. in Long Beach, California, We the People High District was established as an independent charter district operating as its own local educational agency for federal programs. Situated in a vibrant urban environment within the broader Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim metropolitan area, the district was designed to serve high school students in a large city setting. However, according to National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) records for the 2024–2025 reporting period, the district is currently listed as closed, with no operational schools remaining under its jurisdiction.

Prior to its closure, the district served a specialized secondary population, recording a total enrollment of 38 students spanning the ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades. This small high school community reflected a diverse student body, comprising 23 Hispanic students, 11 Black students, and 3 multiracial students, with a breakdown of 15 female and 22 male learners. Because the district no longer operates active school facilities, it currently maintains no instructional or administrative staffing. Today, the district's archived footprint serves primarily as an insightful case study for educational researchers examining the lifecycle, demographic reach, and governance of urban charter agencies in Southern California.
