Urban Discovery Academy Charter District

Located in the heart of downtown San Diego at 840 14th St., Urban Discovery Academy Charter District is an active, independent public charter school system operating a single campus. Situated within a vibrant, large city environment in the San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad metropolitan region, the district offers a continuous and unified educational journey spanning from kindergarten through 12th grade. Functioning as its own local educational agency for federal programs, the academy provides families across the urban center with an accessible, comprehensive academic framework designed to guide students seamlessly from early childhood through high school graduation.

During the 2024–2025 academic year, the district served a diverse student body of 330 learners, fostering an inclusive school community that includes 189 Hispanic students, 52 White students, 47 Black students, and 32 students identifying with two or more races, alongside Asian and Pacific Islander representation. The district is backed by a robust professional network, employing a total full-time equivalent staff of approximately 68 members. This includes 35 dedicated classroom teachers, 3.5 instructional aides, and nearly 30 specialized support staff, ensuring a well-rounded staff-to-student presence that supports individualized learning, holistic development, and strong community engagement.
