Amistad Academy District

Located at 370 James Street in the heart of New Haven, Connecticut, Amistad Academy District operates as a thriving independent charter district nestled within a vibrant midsize city setting. Serving a total enrollment of 1,105 students, the district offers a continuous, comprehensive educational pathway spanning from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. Amistad Academy cultivates a culturally rich learning community, serving a student body predominantly composed of Black (665 students) and Hispanic (392 students) scholars, alongside multiracial, Asian, White, and American Indian students. With steady enrollment balanced across elementary, middle, and high school grade bands, the district provides local families with a cohesive academic pipeline designed to nurture personal and academic growth from early childhood to college readiness.

To support its comprehensive K–12 vision, Amistad Academy District maintains a robust operational footprint anchored by a large, specialized team of professionals. The district employs approximately 370 full-time equivalent staff members, featuring a core instructional faculty of 206 teachers complemented by 18 instructional aides. Furthermore, a substantial network of 146 support staff members ensures that students receive well-rounded academic intervention, developmental guidance, and operational backing.
