RSU 04

Regional School Unit 04 (RSU 04) is an active, traditional public school district headquartered at 971 Gardiner Road in Wales, Maine. Operating five public schools within a rural fringe setting near the Lewiston-Auburn metropolitan area, the district provides a continuous educational pathway for students from pre-kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. As an open, non-charter district, RSU 04 offers comprehensive learning programs tailored to meet the developmental needs of young learners entering early childhood education as well as young adults preparing for post-secondary opportunities.

During the 2024–2025 academic year, RSU 04 served a student population of 1,269 children, maintaining steady enrollment across both elementary and secondary levels. To foster an enriched educational environment, the district employs a robust workforce totaling more than 490 full-time equivalent staff members. This dedicated team includes approximately 208 full-time educators, 36 instructional aides, and nearly 249 support personnel, ensuring students receive personalized academic guidance, strong classroom assistance, and well-maintained campus facilities.
