Merritt Academy

Merritt Academy is an active, independent charter school district located at 59900 Havenridge Road in New Haven, Michigan. Situated in a rural fringe setting within the broader Detroit-Warren-Dearborn metropolitan region, the district functions as its own local education agency for federal programs while operating a single, centralized school campus. Designed to offer a seamless learning journey under one roof, Merritt Academy provides a comprehensive educational pathway spanning pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, giving area families a continuous academic community from early childhood through high school graduation.

During the 2024–2025 school year, the district educates a student body of 549 pupils, consisting of 291 male and 258 female students. The student population includes 441 White students, 47 Black students, 36 multiracial students, 17 Hispanic students, 4 Asian students, and 4 American Indian students distributed evenly across primary, middle, and secondary grade levels. To support learning and campus operations, the district maintains a substantial workforce of approximately 161 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff members.
