American International Academy

American International Academy is an active, independent public charter district headquartered at 300 S. Henry Ruff Road in Westland, Michigan. Situated within a large suburban setting in the greater Detroit-Warren-Dearborn metropolitan region, the district functions as its own local educational agency for federal programs, operating three separate school facilities. Designed to offer a seamless, continuous educational journey, the academy serves students across the entire primary and secondary spectrum, providing tuition-free public charter education from kindergarten all the way through 12th grade.

The district currently educates 660 students, maintaining a vibrant community composed predominantly of Black learners, along with representation from several other ethnic backgrounds and an even gender balance. To support student achievement across its elementary, middle, and high school grade levels, American International Academy relies on a substantial workforce comprising over 175 full-time equivalent staff members. This dedicated team includes approximately 88 full-time equivalent classroom teachers, 5.5 instructional aides, and nearly 82 support staff personnel, ensuring that students receive both robust classroom instruction and comprehensive operational support throughout their academic development.
