MN River Valley Education District

Located at 1315 E. Black Oak Avenue in the remote town of Montevideo, Minnesota, the MN River Valley Education District serves as an active, public special education and vocational education district tailored to secondary learners. Operating three dedicated facilities, this non-charter district provides specialized academic pathways and career-focused programming for students in grades 7 through 12. By offering targeted interventions and practical skill-building outside the traditional comprehensive school model, the district plays a vital role in regional education, equipping students with essential life skills, tailored learning plans, and career preparation.

The district fosters a close-knit learning environment with a total enrollment of 70 students, heavily concentrated in the upper high school grades—including 49 seniors preparing for post-secondary transitions. Its diverse student body encompasses a rich mix of backgrounds, including Hispanic, American Indian, multiracial, Black, and White learners. To deliver intensive support, the district employs a dedicated professional workforce of approximately 26.6 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff members, comprising nearly 13.8 FTE teachers and 12.8 FTE support personnel.
