Higher Ground Academy

Located at 1381 Marshall Avenue in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Higher Ground Academy is an open, independent charter school district serving families across the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. Operating within a vibrant large-city environment, the district encompasses three school facilities that together provide a continuous educational pathway from kindergarten through 12th grade. With a total enrollment of 1,163 students, the academy fosters a closely-knit urban learning community, guiding learners from their early elementary years—starting with a kindergarten cohort of nearly 100 students—all the way through high school graduation.

To support its comprehensive K–12 academic vision, Higher Ground Academy relies on an extensive professional team tailored to meet both classroom and wrap-around student needs. The district employs a total workforce of approximately 480 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff members, featuring over 133 FTE teachers, nearly 94 instructional aides, and more than 250 dedicated support staff personnel.
