The Academy of Moore County

Located along Highway 15-501 South in Aberdeen, North Carolina, The Academy of Moore County operates as an open, independent charter school district serving families in the greater Pinehurst-Southern Pines area. Situated in a rural fringe setting, this single-school district functions as its own local education agency, focusing exclusively on primary education for students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. The academy provides a focused, nurturing learning environment designed to build strong academic and social foundations during children's crucial formative years.

During the 2024–2025 academic year, the district enrolled 479 students, maintaining balanced class sizes across its grades, from 93 kindergarteners and 92 first graders to 66 fifth graders. The student body represents a diverse community, comprising 332 White, 56 multiracial, 54 Hispanic, 25 Black, and 10 Asian students, alongside American Indian and Pacific Islander representation, with 248 male and 231 female learners. Backing this student population is a dedicated professional team of nearly 58 full-time equivalent teachers, offering an exceptional staff-to-student ratio that allows for personalized instruction, strong classroom support, and an engaging educational experience for every child.
