HEALTH SCIENCES CHARTER SCHOOL

Health Sciences Charter School operates as an open, independent charter district located at 1140 Ellicott Street in Buffalo, New York. Situated in a large city setting within the Buffalo-Cheektowaga metropolitan area, this single-school district functions as its own local education agency for federal programs, focusing exclusively on secondary education. Serving high school students in ninth through twelfth grade, the district provides a specialized learning environment designed to guide young adults through their core graduation requirements and post-secondary preparations.

During the 2024–2025 academic year, the school serves a total of 452 students, maintaining a balanced student body comprising 228 male and 223 female enrolled learners. Enrollment is distributed across the high school sequence with 129 ninth graders, 128 tenth graders, 104 eleventh graders, and 91 twelfth graders, representing a vibrant community predominantly composed of Black (406) and Hispanic (33) students, alongside multiracial, Asian, and White peers. To support student learning and institutional operations, the district employs a total workforce of 115 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff members. This team features approximately 66 FTE teachers, 6 FTE instructional aides, and nearly 43 FTE support staff professionals, establishing a strong structural foundation to meet both academic and operational needs.
