Capital Area School for the Arts CS

Situated in the heart of downtown Harrisburg at 150 Strawberry Square, the Capital Area School for the Arts CS is an open, independent charter district serving high school students across grades 9 through 12. Nestled within the small-city environment of the Harrisburg-Carlisle metropolitan area, this single-facility district provides a specialized academic and artistic environment tailored specifically for students preparing for postsecondary paths and creative careers. According to federal data from the 2024–2025 school year, the district fosters an intimate educational setting with a total enrollment of 193 students, composed of 57 ninth graders, 51 tenth graders, 42 eleventh graders, and 43 twelfth graders. The student body is predominantly female, enrolling 153 female and 40 male scholars, and represents a diverse demographic profile that includes 117 White, 34 Black, 28 Hispanic, 9 multiracial, 4 Asian, and 1 American Indian student. To guide and assist this student body, the district relies on a dedicated team of 40 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff members, which includes 22 FTE teachers and 18 FTE support staff.
