Northeast Secure Treatment Unit

Located at 701 Sathers Drive in Pittston Township, Pennsylvania, the Northeast Secure Treatment Unit operates as an open, state-administered educational agency serving the greater Scranton–Wilkes-Barre metropolitan area. Situated within a rural fringe community setting, this specialized single-facility, non-charter district is structured to offer secondary educational programming for grades 7 through 12. Operating under a specialized institutional mandate, the facility currently serves an all-male student population, with active course enrollment primarily concentrated across the traditional high school grade levels (grades 9 through 12).

For the 2024–2025 academic period, the district maintains a close-knit learning environment with a total student body of 37 young men. The student population represents a diverse demographic composition, including 23 Black, 7 Hispanic, 4 White, 2 multiracial, and 1 Asian student. To effectively address the unique educational and structural needs of its enrollment, the district leverages a substantial staffing model comprising 20 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff members. This team includes 14 FTE teachers and 6 FTE support staff professionals.
