Marty Indian School

Marty Indian School is an open, independent public school district located at 100 South Main in Marty, South Dakota. Situated in a remote rural setting, this single-facility district provides a cohesive educational pathway serving students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Operating outside of a supervisory union or charter system, the district delivers a continuous K–12 academic curriculum designed to support youth throughout their primary and secondary educational journeys within a unified community school.

During the 2024–2025 academic year, the district serves a student body of 220 children—comprising 100 female and 120 male students—all of whom identify as American Indian, reflecting its vital role as a cultural and educational center for the community. Learning is supported by an extensive staffing model featuring 108 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions, which includes 64 FTE classroom teachers, 7 instructional aides, and 37 support staff members. This deep staffing context yields an exceptionally low student-to-teacher ratio of under four students per teacher, allowing for highly individualized instruction, comprehensive academic mentorship, and strong community connections.
