SHEPHERD ISD

Located at 1401 S Byrd Ave in Shepherd, Texas, Shepherd Independent School District (Shepherd ISD) serves as an essential educational cornerstone within the greater Houston-Pasadena-The Woodlands metropolitan region. As an open, traditional public school district, Shepherd ISD operates four campuses that offer a comprehensive PK–12 education to children across the local area. Situated in a distant rural setting, the district combines the close-knit feel of a small-town community with a structured academic pathway, providing local families with a stable, accessible, and supportive learning environment from early childhood through high school graduation.

During the 2024–2025 school year, Shepherd ISD serves a student body of nearly 2,000 pupils, bringing together a diverse community of learners primarily comprising Hispanic and White students, alongside multiracial, Black, American Indian, and Asian youth. To effectively support this student population, the district leverages a broad operational team of nearly 545 full-time equivalent staff members. This includes roughly 247 full-time equivalent teachers, over 40 instructional aides, and more than 250 support staff dedicated to maintaining facilities, administration, and specialized student services, ensuring that every learner receives the personal and instructional resources necessary to succeed.
