Braxton County Schools

Braxton County Schools is an open, traditional public school district headquartered at 98 Carter Braxton Drive in Sutton, West Virginia. Serving as the primary educational anchor for its local community, the district operates eight active schools situated in a rural remote geographic setting. The district offers a complete continuum of public education, spanning from Pre-Kindergarten through the 12th grade, ensuring that students of all ages across the county have access to structured learning and foundational development opportunities close to home.

For the 2024–2025 school year, the district educates a total student body of 1,596 learners, maintaining steady enrollment across its primary, middle, and high school grade levels. To effectively guide and support its student population, Braxton County Schools maintains a strong instructional and operational presence with a total workforce of 526 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff members. This dedicated team includes 252 classroom teachers, 33 instructional aides, and 241 support personnel, creating a well-resourced environment designed to meet the academic, social, and logistical needs of the community it serves.
